Transfer to a different University

Guidance about transferring to another university:

Why do you want to change your university?
A truthful reply to this will help you a lot.

Some of the reasons I have been given why students seek a transfer are:
1.The university rank is low.
2.It is not offering the research area compatible to the students
requirement.
3.The student has not been offered any financial help.
4.The university fee is high
5.The living cost at that location is high
6.Lastly the weather and environment is not conducive to the students
health.

How the transfer is done?
1. The student must have completed at least 6 months study in the university
for which a visa has been granted.
2.Approach your universities International office to provide you documents
for the transfer.
3.Get in touch with the new university and get a confirmed commitment about
admission and other requirements like - financial help etc
4. Get in touch with the professors of the targeted university and seek an
assurance for TA or RA.
If required personally meet the professors.
5. If there is any other deficiency which is making you change the
university then be assured that the same thing is not lacking in the
targeted university.
6. Lastly if possible visit the targeted university to avoid any
disappointment at a later date.

Regarding university
1. If you want to transfer to a university where you have already been
admitted for 1st semester then defer your admission for the next semester.
It will be desirable if you defer all your admissions so that you have a
choice of universities when you reach America.
2.If you have selected a different university then write to them about your
situation and suggest that you want to join them as a transfer student after
completion of the 1st semester.
3.Your performance during the 1st semester shall help you to go to a decent
university or for consideration of some sort of aid.
4.If you can arrange a contact with some professor having similar interest
as yours do try personally meeting him.This will help.
